ESG meeting 10.28.09

1. The H1N1 sheet was passed around and names were taken. These individuals will get information as it becomes available, which may be very short-notice.
2. Next meeting will be Wednesday November 11th, 2009 at 7:00pm in Lantz room 1620
3. Remember that you will lose points for events or projects that you have signed up for and have not attended/completed.
4. Health Service Committee for the fall and spring semesters. Meets on select Thursdays from 11:30-1:00. Contact Ashley for details.
5. Food drive: 3 cans = 1 Point. Members can acquire up to 2 points from the food drive. To obtain a point an ESG officer must witness your contribution.
6. Clothes Drive (same box as food items), need jackets and blankets, in addition to other items.
7. Adopt-A-Family= more information coming next meeting
8.ISOPHE Bulletin Board: if you signed up you must have this completed by November 5th, 2009. Please get the key to unlock the box from Dr. Phillips.
9. If anyone is unable to make the meeting but would still like the ½ point associated with them, please contact Becky at rlruggeri@eiu.edu to set up a time for a mini-meeting.
10. T-shirts- Group is interested in T-shirts and also possibly sweatshirts. If you are T-shirt “talented” please help us out with ideas! Contact an ESG officer.
11. Portfolio Night coming up soon
12. World AIDS Day December 1st, 2009. We will be putting together ribbon and beaded pins to take donations for charity. Will be tabling in Lantz November 30th, and December 1st.
13. Will make materials for world AIDs day Nov 11th.
14. Activity sheets are available for your portfolio. These can list the events that you have been involved in and can be issued at any time. Please see ESG Exec for more info.
15. Start thinking of ideas for the Health Fair! Possible suggestions so far include premature births.
16. November 19th-Great American Smokeout. Contacting the Tobacco Coalition for more details.
17. Scholarships are becoming available for all health studies majors and minors.
18. Internship Deadlines December 1st for Spring, April 1st for Summer, August 1st for next Fall.
19. Please remember to pay ESG Dues as soon as possible. Semester=$7, Year=$10

ATTENTION!
Sorry this is last minute, but there is a meeting TOMORROW (WEDNESDAY) at 7pm in the regular room. We are providing pizza and pop for all ESG candidates who attend =) In return, the ESG exec members are asking for you to bring a canned food item to donate to our food drive we are beginning this week. If you do not have a canned food item, bring $1 or a non-perishable good. Thanks and hope to see you all there!

ESG Minutes 9.23.09
• Exec introductions:
o Ashley Wyss: President

• List possible activities for ESG to do:
o Breast Cancer month

• Requirements:
o 2.75 GPA
 If you do not meet this you will be considered as a candidate until you are able to be initiated
o Forms available online http://www.eiu.edu/~healthst/
 Turn into ESG officer, Dr. Phillips, or Dr. Simons—get a receipt to put in your HST portfolio!
o $7 a semester or $10 for both semesters
o Will be initiated (Spring) with 7 Points
 ½ point for each meeting attended
 1 point for each activity attended
 -1 point for each activity that you signed up for but did not attend

 Fair in Grand Ballroom of Union from 5-6 p.m. on Tuesday October 13th
 Presentation either 6:00 or 6:30

o Poster Sessions—Illinois Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance
 Any research project, updates, etc. can apply
 Nov 19-20th at the Pheasant Run Resort in St. Charles, Il
 Applications on Dr. Simons door—must turn in to her Oct. 1st
o Student Monitors—American School Health Association
 Conference in conjunction with ESG in Denver, CO.
 Monitor for 3 hours and get free conference registration and 1 year membership ASHA
 Deadline to apply Oct 2nd

Social changed!

The social has changed locations: It will be held in the Lantz Club Room upstairs in Lantz arena. This will start at 5:30, with the ESG meeting beginning sharply at 7pm. Hope to see you all there! =)
